Welcome to AstraMentalica.

Mesoamerica was one of the great civilizational regions of the world.

It included many cultures across parts of present-day Mexico and Central America. The Maya and Aztec worlds are among the best known, but they were not the only civilizations of the region.

Olmec, Zapotec, Mixtec, Teotihuacan, Toltec, Maya, Mexica, and many other peoples developed complex societies, cities, writing systems, calendars, astronomical knowledge, agricultural methods, trade networks, religious traditions, and artistic languages.

Mesoamerica should not be reduced to pyramids, sacrifice, or mystery.

It was a diverse intellectual and cultural world.

Within AstraMentalica, this region may be explored through:

• astronomy and calendar systems;
• writing, mathematics, and the concept of time;
• architecture, cities, temples, and sacred landscapes;
• maize agriculture and the relationship between food, society, and cosmology;
• mythology, ritual, symbolism, and political power;
• trade, migration, warfare, and cultural exchange;
• living indigenous communities and languages;
• the difference between historical evidence, modern interpretation, and spiritual speculation.

AstraMentalica separates documented history from symbolic reflection.
